Aga Teams up with Paxton & Whitfield of Stratford for the
Promotion of Local Life 1st October 2008

Peter Hughes a well renowned AGA Demonstrator and ex-Restaurateur attended to the Demonstration at the AGA Shop in Stratford on 1st October. Our mission was to raise awareness that it is not always necessary to venture to Foreign lands to give that exquisite finish to a sumptuous dish – GO LOCAL and support local produce and British Cheeses.

We opened the showroom for an evening demonstration and had ten existing AGA owners join us for this demonstration. Dishes were prepared with the same main ingredient and the finishing touches were given using 1) A British Cheese and
2) A European Cheese.

Peter prepared a Fabulous Menu as follows: -

Cheese Straws comparing Mature Cheddar to Manchego (Spanish Cheese)
*********
Quick Cheese Soufflé comparing Berwick Edge (made on Doddington Farm from unpasteurised Cow’s Milk in Warwickshire) to Gruyere Reserve (Swiss)
*********
Asparagus & Wild Mushroom Risotto comparing Berkswell (made from unpasteurised Ewe’s Milk at Ram Hall in Warwickshire) to Pecorino Sardo (Sardinia Italy)
*********
Baked Soft Cheese with Prawns comparing Tunworth (made in Hampshire and from Ayrshire Cow’s milk) to Camembert de Nomandie (French)
*******
Escalope of Grey Bream with a Herb Topping on a
Bed of Spinach comparing Quickes Mature Cheddar ( Somerset) to Comte Bande Verte (Eastern France)
*********
Mignons of Beef Fillet with a Blue Cheese Sauce
Comparing Beenleigh Blue (Sheep’s Milk Cheese from Totnes) to
Roquefort (the most famous of French Cheeses)
*********
Rosti
Snow Peas
*********
Warm Lemon & Goat’s Cheesecake
Comparing Cerney – (an un pasteurised Goats Cheese from Gloucestershire) to
Chevre Buche (from the Loire area of France)
*********
Peter put the AGA through its paces and showed the Stress Free manor in which the AGA produces the Final result. Numerous tips were imparted to the attendees and a unanimous decision was made – GO LOCAL

Our thanks to Paxton & Whitfield who donated the various cheeses and the Wines and sourced Local meats from local butchers.
